Diddy and Swizz Beatz have publicly expressed their support for Kanye West in the hasty fight against Adidas. The leading sneaker and apparel brand has been accused of stealing West’s Yeezy designs with some of their own footwear. The brand recently released a sandal that rivals the iconic Yeezy slide.
Diddy posted a screenshot to his Instagram on Tuesday (September 6), sharing the conversation between him and West. In the text, Diddy vowed to “never wear Adidas again” for the rest of his life if the brand didn’t correct their visionary issues with Yeezy.
“Please send me something I can post to support you! If Adidas can’t get you right, I will never wear Adidas again in my life!!!” Didi texted. Ye replied, “Praise God for loving you.”
In the second slide of the post, Diddy shared an image of an Adidas shoe that looks very similar in design to the 2021 Yeezy 700 V3. In his caption, the former Sean John designer wrote:
“@Adidas has used hip hop to build their brand and make billions from our culture since the Run-DMC days. But we’re not just consumers now, we’re owners. @KanyeWest and YEEZY It’s what Adidas is about culture. We know what we’re worth! I’m done wearing Adidas products until they get it right! We want to support each other!! Please retweet!!”
Didi isn’t the only ally West who has publicly expressed support for West by boycotting Adidas products. Multi-platinum record producer Swizz Beatz also joined in.
“I usually mind mine, but this is so wrong!” Swizz shared a photo of Yeezy-inspired sneakers on Instagram. “If we let them do this to @Kanyewest, it will happen to us too! This guy created this groundbreaking innovation and it should be respected as an idea! Yeh is just asking for his work to be respected and not stolen, It’s not crazy to me! We don’t buy these!!!!!!!!! @Adidas You should be original, please do the right thing!!!”
Swizz Beatz is dealing with a similar battle as he, Timbaland and video app Triller are engaged in a legal battle over the music wars series Verzuz. Swizz and Timbaland created the platform during this critical time of the COVID-19 pandemic to keep fans entertained from some of their favorite artists.
Other celebrities who have voiced their support for West include Rapsody and TI, as well as music executives such as Dre London and Bu Thiam.
